Good news for Dubai’s golfing community: Business magnate, Donald Trump and developer Damac Properties have announced they will be developing a second golf course, and related facilities, in its latest project, AKOYA Oxygen – a new master development in Dubai. The AKOYA Oxygen project will include green open spaces, organic market stalls, and a variety of relaxing and healing environments, to create what developers are calling “the greenest living experience in the region”. The project includes a desert-style wellness centre, globally-recognised retail brands, and leisure and entertainment offerings, all in a holistic environment.

The 18-hole championship-standard course, Trump World Golf Club Dubai, will be set within this 55 million sq ft development in Dubailand, and while the designer of the course is yet to be disclosed, Damac promises they will come from a “world-renowned” golf professional.

The new course will be the second development for the Trump Organisation in Dubai, following the Trump International Golf Club, Dubai, at AKOYA by DAMAC, which was launched in May 2013 and is due to open late next year.

“I have been hugely impressed with the quality and professionalism of everything in Dubai and it was a natural progression to bring another world-class course to the emirate,” said Trump ahead of the announcement.

Trump World Golf Club Dubai is the 18th Trump golf course to be developed and is slated to open in 2017.

The announcement is one of a number being made this week at CityScape, with one particular project setting tongues wagging. Design District Dubai – or d3 as it has become known – unveiled its masterplan for a 1.8km waterfront destination featuring design-led hotels, boutique retail outlets and stylish dining and entertainment venues. Set in the shadow of Downtown Dubai, on the other side of Emirates Road, the development will also feature a vibrant business zone, a dedicated creative community and over 2.5 million square feet of retail space.
