England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has revealed plans for a new club – think dancing not forward-driving – in Dubai.
The controversial star took to Instagram to post a picture of the new venue on The Palm, with the caption, “And here @EdenDubai is, everyone! A day and night view. Opening in a few weeks on The Palm, Dubai. We are all buzzing!”
Situated at Rixos, the furthest point of the East Crescent, Eden Beach Club will rival similar spots on the man-made archipelago that juts out from the Dubai coastline, such as Nasimi Beach, Atlantis, and Riva.
Information about the opening is limited at this stage, though the venue’s Facebook page has been strategically posting alluring images captioned with ‘What’s Your Sin?’.
So far this month, Lust and Envy – both glamorous beachside shots of a women – have been posted, as have Gluttony – an arty food picture.

Pietersen’s involvement in the project has not been fully disclosed, though it will certainly be a welcome distraction for the South African-born batsman, who has been under pressure in the British media following the release of his autobiography. In ‘KP: The Autobiography’, he goes on the attack against former team-mates and the senior figures in English cricket.
Eden isn’t the 34-year-old’s only interest in the region with him set to open a cricket academy before the end of 2014.
Widely regarded as one the best and most exciting batsmen of his generation, he was recently in the UAE taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as Delhi Daredevils captain. It was while here in May that he revealed children aged between seven and 18 would benefit from expert coaching and top of the range facilities.
Speaking at the time, he said: “We chose Dubai because of its central location. The facilities there are magnificent. The opportunity arose last year and we grabbed it. We are expecting kids from all around the world and will also be funding disadvantaged kids. After Dubai, the second academy is going to be set up in India for sure. It is high on priority.”
