Hailed as the ‘most glamorous, celebrity-packed’ Formula One after-party, The Podium Lounge have announced a steller line-up of performers for this year’s curtain call.
Held on the Marina Wing rooftop at the iconic Yas Viceroy hotel in the heart of the circuit on Yas Marina island, Abu Dhabi, the four-night celebration will be headlined by Rudimental, and also feature Sister Bliss and Dirty Vegas over the whole weekend.
Things kick of on the night of Thursday November 20 with local talent Smokingroove and Patrick Oliver, before cranking up a notch on the evening of first practice with Faithless DJ Sister Bliss. One of Britain’s leading female DJs, she is responsible for some of dance music’s most spectacular and popular tracks, such as ‘We Come One‘, ‘God Is A DJ‘ and ‘Insomnia‘.
Then on Saturday, Grammy Award-winning duo Dirty Vegas will take to the decks for a live set. The British duo (Paul Harris and Steve Smith) hit the scene more than a decade to go with 2001 debut single ‘Days Gone By‘. They’ve also worked on remixes with stars such as Justin Timberlake and Madonna.
The curtain comes down on race day in a 1,000-person strong party that will rock until 5am, headlined by another British act, Rudimental. The four-piece have not long left the region having stolen the show at Sandance at Atlantis, The Palm, on October 10. Coming straight out of Hackney in east London, the band exploded onto the scene in 2012 with UK N0 1 Feel The Love, featuring John Newman, and followed it with Waiting All Night, alongside vocalist Ella Eyre. Since their first visit to Dubai in 2013, they have won a Brit Award and performed sell-out shows in the UK (three at the iconic Brixton Academy) and further afield.
Last year’s instalment was attended to by the then world champion Sebastian Vettel as well as the rest of his Red Bull team who had earlier on the Sunday scooped a one-two finish with Mark Webber.
As well as music, there will also be guest appearances from Freddie Hunt, son of legendary racer James Hunt, whose rivalry with Nicki Lauda was the subject of hit movie Rush, as well as Jacques Villeneuve, a former world champion.
Guests can also expect fashion shows, a silent auction of F1 Memorabilia and more.
“We’re really excited to be bringing back the hugely successful Podium Lounge to the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi for the second year running,” organisers said. “We’ve been perfecting The Podium Lounge race after party experience this year during the Monaco, Melbourne and Singapore races, and we’ve got some of the best international DJs in the world headlining.”
