What’s On announces hip hop concerts in Dubai for December 2014. There will be Tinie Tempah at WHITE Dubai, and Akon at VIP Room Dubai.

Tinie Tempah has been announced as the headline act for WHITE Dubai’s first anniversary celebrations, while his American counterpart Akon is in line for the VIP Room’s own birthday bash. And later in December, Jason Derulo will perform at Movida.

British rapper Tinie will take to the mic at Meydan’s popular grandstand rooftop club on December 19, his first show in the region since RedFest DXB back in February.

Fans can expect to hear the Londoner reel off big hit such as ‘Pass Out’, ‘Written In The Stars’, ‘Tsunami’ and ‘Children of the Sun’, as he follows the likes of Jason Derulo, Mr. Probz, Thomas Gold and Cody Wise in performing at the venue.

“We’re extremely proud to celebrate the anniversary in this vibrant city,” the award-winning WHITE team said. “This is only the beginning and we have plenty more surprises and plans scheduled up ahead. To our friends old and new, thank you for supporting us on our first year and we look forward to welcoming you all to our anniversary party.”

Meanwhile over in Business Bay, Dubai’s favourite ‘Konvict’ returns to the region for the second time in three months, on December 16.

It’s been a decade since Akon, real name Aliaune Thiam, burst onto the music scene with his 2004 album Trouble, which spawned the hit singles Belly Dancer (Bonanza), Locked Up and Lonely. When the latter was released in 2005, it went straight to the top of the UK charts.

In addition to his own library of hits, the Senegalese-American artist is best known for high profile collaborations with some of the biggest megastars in music, from The Sweet Escape with Gwen Stefani to Smack That with Eminem and My Love with T.I. He also worked with David Guetta on his first house track in 2011.

And finally, Movida Dubai, celebrates three years with its own birthday bash, featuring an exclusive live performance Jason Derulo. With over 45 million records sold worldwide the ‘Talk Dirty’ and ‘Wiggle’ star has collaborated with the likes of 2Chainz, Snoop Dogg, Tyga, Jordin Sparks, Kid Ink, and Pitbull.
