Passengers are able to book these flights via Emirates from October 3, with travel to commence on October 29.
“This is an exciting first step in unlocking the benefits of the partnership for passengers who will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique advantages each airline offers as well as greater choice and flexibility when connecting via Dubai,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Group and chairman of flydubai.
“This is just the start and as we expand the partner network in the coming months we will open up more opportunities for our passengers to explore the world.”
So, what exactly are the benefits?
Well, Emirates passengers who book flights under the codeshare will receive free meals, and the same checked baggage allowance as they would normally be entitled to.
Members of the Emirates Skywards frequent flier programme will also earn miles and receive other privileges on these codeshare flights.
Silver, gold and platinum members will be able to bring 12kg, 16kg, or 20kg of extra checked baggage on flights operated by Flydubai, and will also be able to use Flydubai’s business check-in counters.
In a statement, Emirates and Flydubai said further benefits for members of each airline’s frequent flyer and loyalty programmes would be announced in due course, as well as more codeshare destinations.
Both airlines are expected to reach a collective 240 destinations and 380 aircraft by 2022.
