Dubai Marina zipline is now open and tickets are already selling fast
Daredevils assemble…
Eagle-eyed Dubai Marina residents will already know that a new zipline has been installed over the Dubai Marina.
Brought to you by XDubai, the people behind the zipline over the Dubai Fountain in 2015, the new zipline is now open to the public, after HH Sheikh Hamdan shared a video doing the stunt on his Instagram page this weekend:
The double zip line, described as the the world’s longest urban zip line is priced at Dhs650 per person, or Dhs1,200 for two people.
We tried it out yesterday too!
Building on the earlier archetype, the new XLine is twice the length, and is two ziplines running adjacent, rather than one. Also new is the Superman style harness, which allows zipliners to ride Superman-style, belly down, as they zip from one of the Amwaj towers in JBR, 170 metres in the air, down to the terrace of Dubai Marina Mall (which means, yes, you are at times zipping over the road).
But it’s not just length that this zip line boasts, the 1km line also features an incline of 16° and reaches speeds of an average of 80 kilometres per hour.
“We wouldn’t be XDubai if we didn’t push the limits of what is possible,” said Mohammed Javad, General Manager of XDubai. “Following the success of the first XLine, we wanted to step it up more than a notch and importantly, give both residents and visitors to Dubai the opportunity to have a true-to-form XDubai experience” he added.
There’s still plenty of weekday tickets available, but if you’re looking to head down on a weekend, book soon – several slots are already sold out.
XLine, Dubai Marina, 10am to 6pm Sun to Thurs, 10am to 7pm Fri and Sat, Dhs650 single, Dhs1200 couple. Tickets from Platinumlist.net. More info on website
