Sheikh Mohammed celebrates 15 years of leading the UAE

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has reached the 15 year mark since his Accession Day. On January 4, 2006, Sheikh Mohammed became the new Ruler of Dubai, stepping into the shoes of his late brother.
The Dubai Ruler penned an open letter to the people of the UAE, highlighting the countries achievements over the past 15 years.
Taking to social media, HH Sheikh Mohammed commemorated the anniversary: “Brothers and sisters … sons of the people of the Emirates … we will complete 15 years in 2021 in the leadership of the UAE government … we have worked to achieve the vision of my brother, the president of the state, may God protect him … and we have made every effort to serve the people of the Union.”

His Highness shared details of his doubters, those who expected him to fail. “The past 15 years I spent in the federal government have not been easy. I remember when I first assumed my role as Prime Minister, many people have warned me from failure.
“I remember a senior Emirati dignitary who spoke to me years after assuming my responsibilities and said, “we all expected you to fail, and we were all wrong.” he wrote.

Sheikh Mohammed concluded the letter with a message of hope, “I wish the best to all our youth who have been loyal to this country and its leadership through devoting every effort to maintain our success. We have a long journey ahead a brighter future awaits us our journey for the next 50 years is to begin.”
