The new deal will see the addition of 95 aircraft to its fleet…

On Monday, November 13, the 18th edition of the Dubai Airshow kicked off in Dubai World Central, under the theme: The Future of the Aerospace Industry.

During day one of the annual aerospace event, UAE-based airline Emirates placed a whopping US$52 billion order for 95 new Boeing aircraft.

The exciting fleet expansion includes 55 of Boeing’s latest marvel, the 777X-9, and 35 of the 777X-8 models. Already the world’s largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft, this will take Emirates’ 777X order book to a total of 205 units.

Aviation enthusiasts can mark their calendars for the first glimpse of the 777X-9, set to grace the skies in 2025, while the 777X-8 will make its grand debut in 2030.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates added, “From day 1, Emirates’ business model has been to operate modern and efficient wide-body aircraft capable of carrying large numbers of travellers comfortably and safely, over long distances to and via Dubai.”

“These additional aircraft will enable Emirates to connect even more cities, supporting the Dubai economic agenda D33 set out by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to add 400 cities to Dubai’s foreign trade map over the next decade.”
