Driving in Dubai: How to pay and view your Salik fines
Avoid Salik fines in Dubai before they hit your wallet
If you aren’t careful with paying properly, the Salik toll system can catch you out. Miss a top-up or drive without a tag, and fines can quickly add up. Knowing how to check and pay your Salik fines means you can stay on the move without any surprises.
How to find out if you have a Salik fine
There are three main ways to check for pending Salik fines:
RTA Dubai App
- Open the app and go to Services. Scroll down to the Salik section and select Violations. Enter your vehicle plate number to see any fines. You can then pay directly online using a credit or debit card.
Dubai Police App
- This app is not just for traffic fines. Go to the Pay Traffic Fines section, select Ticket, then choose Salik. Payments can be made instantly through the app.
Salik website
- Visit salik.ae, head to Salik Services, and click on Violations. Enter your number plate and search to see if any fines are registered. You can pay online immediately.

Common Salik fines explained
Insufficient funds violation
- If your Salik account balance is too low when you pass a toll gate, and you don’t top it up within five working days, you will receive a Dhs50 fine. Only one fine is issued per day per vehicle. Salik will send an SMS alert, but this only works if your contact information is up to date.
Unregistered vehicle plate
- If your vehicle does not have a Salik tag and you drive through a toll gate, you need to register and activate a tag within 10 working days. Fines increase with repeated offences: Dhs100 for the first, Dhs200 for the second, and Dhs400 for any subsequent offences. Only one fine is issued per day per vehicle.
There is a 10-day grace period from your first unpaid trip to get a Salik tag, activate it, and attach it to your windscreen. This gives you time to avoid paying the full fine immediately.
