If you’re hungry for news on the Dhs10 billion leisure and entertainment district in Jebel Ali, here’s something to whet your appetite: motiondate Dubai – the Hollywood-themed park that’s slated to open in Dubai in October 2016 – is set to offer The Hunger Games attractions.
Entertainment giant Lionsgate is partnering with Dubai Parks and Resorts to bring a dedicated zone to motiongate Dubai that is likely to please Katniss Everdeen fans the world over.
Theme park attractions and a retail section inspired by the global blockbuster franchise will occupy one part of the zone but specific details of the attractions are still under wraps.
Jon Feltheimer, Lionsgate Chief Executive Office said: “We’re proud to partner with the team at Dubai Parks and Resorts to create a thrilling total entertainment experience designed to attract millions of new fans and continue the global expansion of our brands.”
Meanwhile, fans of the Step Up franchise also have reason to celebrate as a live stage show based on Step Up: All In and Step Up: Revolution, are also in the pipeline for the Lionsgate zone.
**FIRST LOOK: DUBAI PARK & RESORTS**
The four million square foot motiongate Dubai is anticipated to attract over three million visits a year and will take visitors on an immersive cinematic journey through their favourite films via 27 different latest-in-technology rides and attractions.
Scheduled for completion in 2016, we now know the first phase of the Dhs10 billion leisure and entertainment district in Jebel Ali will feature Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai. The development will also feature Riverpark, a grand entrance plaza and a family themed hotel Lapita.
LEGOLAND Dubai will also occupy a large section of the new district covering a total of three million square feet and feature over 15,000 model structures made from more than 60 million bricks. There will be over 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions set over six themed areas – LEGO City, Adventure, LEGO Kingdom, Create, LEGO Factory, and Miniland.
