Fancy a film? The movies out in Dubai cinemas this week
Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is La La Land, a brilliant new musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…
La La Land
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock this year, you will have heard all the hype surrounding this one. The musical, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone (bringing the same chemistry they showed in Gangster Squad and Crazy, Stupid, Love), is already gathering Oscars buzz. It tells the story of jazz pianist Sebastian (Gosling), who falls for aspiring actress Mia (Stone) as they both try and make it in Hollywood. Gorgeous.
Assassin’s Creed
The cast of this movie is formidable – Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson, to name a few – but we’re reserving judgement since it’s based on a popular video game. Fassbender is the star as Callum Lynch, a man who explores his genetic memories through a revolutionary new technology that reveals him to be a descendent from a secret society called the Assassins.

The Monster
In need of a good scare? The Monster is a classic horror – Zoe Kazan stars as Kathy, an irresponsible stepmum to troubled Lizzie (Ella Ballentine). One dark and stormy night, on a drive through the woods to see Lizzie’s dad, the two hit an animal: they’re both fine, but the car is dead. As they wait for the ambulance, it soon becomes clear that something is watching them – and it doesn’t want them getting out of the woods alive.
Also out this week:
– Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice
