Salt, the final remaining restaurant at La Mer, is closing this week
The beloved beachfront destination will be completely vacant as of Friday…
If you’ve visited La Mer recently you may have noticed that many of the restaurants and shops between La Mer North and La Mer Central have closed their doors, along with the redevelopment of La Mer South. And this Friday, July 28, La Mer will also say goodbye to its final restaurant, Dubai’s cult burger brand, Salt.
The Salt team confirmed to What’s On that this Friday will be the last day to get your fix of sliders and shakes at the La Mer branch. But don’t worry burger enthusiasts, as Salt will remain open at the Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina, and Kite Beach branches.
What is happening at La Mer?
When construction began late last year on La Mer South (soon to be J1 Beach), La Mer Central and La Mer North were set to remain.
Seven months and a number of closures later, it looks like La Mer North and La Mer Central are also going to be demolished. Although we don’t yet know the reason for the closures, we do know that you can still enjoy the public beach in this area. Stay tuned to What’s On for more updates as to what will replace the popular strip of beachfront.
What is J1 Beach?
La Mer South has been completely demolished to make room for J1 Beach. Construction is well and truly underway with the new destination set to open by the end of 2023. Three beach clubs and 10 licensed restaurants will replace the shops and restaurants formerly found at La Mer South.
The three stars of the show will be a trio of beach clubs, all with regional and international acclaim behind them: Gigi Rigolatto, Bâoli, and Sirene Beach by Gaia.
