The Palm Monorail station at The Pointe closes today
It has been operational since October 2022…
The Palm Monorail is a handy way to avoid the traffic when zipping up and down the Palm Jumeirah. But from today, Monday July 31, there will be one less stop on the route, as the Palm Monorail station at The Pointe is closing.
The Pointe station was initially set to serve those heading to The Pointe in 2021, but only began operations in October 2022.
The closure of the monorail station comes two months after it was confirmed that the 1.4 million square foot dining destination, complete with cinema, record-breaking dancing fountain, and a vast array of restaurants, was to undergo redevelopment. Back in May, the Palm Fountain ceased operations, and the cinema has already been closed. At the time, developer Nakheel confirmed that all tenants had been served their 12-months notice, giving them a year to vacate or relocate.
As such, several restaurants, including the popular CMP Bar & Grill and Samakje, have already closed their doors. Others, such as Brunch & Cake and Social Distrikt, remain, but are in their notice period.
It’s not yet known what will happen to The Pointe once all tenants have vacated. Currently, no information has been shared about what will occupy the land currently held by The Pointe — whether Nakheel will continue to operate commercial projects there, or perhaps shift to residential operations.
