A world-class venue needs a world-class act – and Dubai Opera has just added another one to its impressive lineup.

Emirati superstar Hussain Al Jassmi will perform at the new Downtown Dubai venue for one night and one night only (for the timebeing, anyway).

The 36-year-old pop singer will bring some of his top hits, such as Fegadtek, Ma Yeswa and Bawada’ak, to Dubai Opera on October 10, making him the first Arabic crooner to headline at the soon-to-be-opened venue.

Tickets for the show go on sale on July 4, and can be purchased from the Dubai Opera website.

Tickets will be released from 9am, so make sure you set that alarm to be in with a chance of getting one.

(He’s got more than 500 million views on YouTube, so you’ll hardly be the only one wanting to go).

“I am very proud to be performing in my hometown, in front of my fans at this inspiring and world-class venue. This will truly be a remarkable and beautiful night to remember,” said Hussain Al Jassmi, who rose to fame with his unique blend of traditional Khaleeji and modern Arabic beats.

Dubai Opera, the city’s first purpose-built performing arts theatre, will officially open its doors on August 31 with a performance by legendary Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo.

Tickets for that show are already long gone though, sorry.

However there’s still plenty of chances to get your bum on one of the venue’s 2,000 seats – the stellar calendar for this year includes ballets Coppélia and Giselle, operas The Pearl Fishers and The Barber of Seville, and long-running musical Les Miserables.
