The safety and security of UAE residents is the country’s top priority, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reiterated in a message shared on Wednesday night.
In the wake of the country’s worst rainfall on record and dramatic storms, the UAE President has ordered a quick response from authorities to restore the emirates and their residents. In a message carried by state news agency, wam, Sheikh Mohamed said that he has directed the relevant entities to urgently study the condition of infrastructure throughout the UAE, and to limit the damage caused after Tuesday’s havoc-inducing weather.

Sheikh Mohamed added that the necessary support will be provided to families impacted by the severe weather, and local authorities will work on moving those unable to stay in their homes due to damage to safe locations.
He further extended his thanks to the national and local emergency and rescue teams that contributed to the safe evacuation of residents across the emirates. It was described by the UAE ruler, as a showcase of the “spirit of solidarity” from the UAE community.
On Wednesday, the UAE’s Ministry of Interior announced that the bad weather was behind us, but a clean-up operation remains across the country.

Even now, two days later, the disruption continues: schools have extended distance learning for the rest of the week, public offices are closed and the private sector encouraged to work remotely, many flights have been cancelled, and hundreds of residents are grappling with the loss of homes and vehicles.
